What's all the hoopla, and where do I start?
Online auctions are the hot ticket for
collectors today! Never before have so many antique and collectible
items plus new merchandise, been available from so many people -
literally world wide - and sometimes at incredible prices! It's so
easy to join the excitement of online auctioning, it seems everyone
with Internet access is getting into it. For collectors that's great -
lots of treasure hunting! For sellers it's great too - lots of buyers!
To start, you typically register yourself as a user on the auction
site. This is almost always free and simply involves giving the
auction company your real name, address, and phone number. This is
necessary for the security of all the users of the auction site. You
will be asked to choose a user name that people will know you on the
auction site by, and also a secrete password. A confirmation number is
then sent to the email address you provided as a means of verifying
you are who you say you are. You then go back to the auction site with
your confirmation number you received in email, type the number in,
and viola - you're a confirmed user on that auction site! Bidding on
items is usually a simple matter of typing in your auction site's user
name and password, and your bid amount. Selling items is also fun and
